Patty Then began work as a darkroom technician at Robert Morris University in August 2005 with an extensive background in photographic production. Having worked in photo processing labs since 1987, she gained experience working with not only photographers but retail customers as well. She has experience with processing and printing slide, color and black/white film. Patty also worked several years for a portrait photographer specializing in black and white photography. With her decades of experience of both processing and printing of black and white film, her knowledge is an asset to any student working in the darkroom.
Patty’s duties were expanded from darkroom technician to studio technician after the migration of Media Arts studios and classrooms from downtown to the Wheatley Center. Her responsibilities include monitoring the needs and maintaining the supplies and equipment of the darkroom, workshops, studios, and color printing labs. The most important aspect of her job is to assist students and faculty to ensure they are able to maximize their use of the facilities, especially in the printing labs.
Patty lives with her husband Chris and their son Christopher in Conway Borough. She is active in community organizations such as the local recreation committee. For many years she was very involved with the Conway Elementary PTA having served as President and still takes the yearly group photo (11 years now but, who’s counting? ) of the entire student body outside at the school. She recently served as councilwoman to Conway Borough Council after graduating the Local Government Academy.
