Media Arts has two large and spacious Apple computer labs for design and photography students. Every work station has 12 square feet of space for students to work. Labs also include regular tables/chairs for discussion-based instruction.
Yes, we built a brand new darkroom. As long as someone keeps making film and chemistry, we will offer film-based courses. Skills acquired while making an image the traditional way can not replicated when making images with digital cameras.
Portrait and tabletop photography require facilities as well. The well equipped lighting studio includes a camera stand, sitting stools, professional lighting, three-roll backdrop, and matte gray walls and ceiling to reduce light bounces.
With its position in the corner of the building, the drawing studio is bathed in natural light from garage door-sized windows. It's equipped with both drawing easels and work tables allowing for flexible use.
The multipurpose studio features 4'x3' drawing tables and 2'x6' utility tables, making it ideal for 2D design, color theory and storyboarding classes. Intermediate and finished work can quickly be pinned up on the wall for critique.
The 3D studio is set up to accommodate a variety of materials, including wood, clay, plaster, wax, and mold-making materials.
